Peter Jungen, Chairman of Peter Jungen Holding GmbH, is investor in numerous start-ups in Europe, the US and Israel. Among others he is also Co-Founder of Idealo GmbH, the leading German comparison shopping platform. He is Founding President of Business Angels Netzwerk Deutschland (BAND), Co-Founder and President (2001-2004) of the European Business Angels Network (EBAN), a founding Board Member of the China Business Angels Network (CBAN), Beijing, and a member of the New York Angels. He is a partner in the early stage funds “Sinnovation Ventures”, Beijing. He is a member of the Advisory Council, Deutsche Bank AG, of the Board of the New York Philharmonic, the Leonard Bernstein Circle and of the International Council of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. He is Honorary Chairman, “Center on Capitalism and Society”, Columbia University and Board Member of the Columbia Center for Global Economic Governance. He is a Member of the Board of the Friedrich von Hayek Institute, Vienna, respectively a member of the International Josef Schumpeter Society, of the Mont Pelerin Society and of the OECD Steering Group on SME and Entrepreneurship. He was Governing Board Member of the “Institute for New Economic Thinking” (INET) and a member of the Presidency of the Federation of German Industries (BDI).
“Wirtschaftswoche” named Peter Jungen one of the 100 most important personalities who shape the future of the “New Economy”. In 1999 Peter Jungen was awarded the Commander’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany (Großes Bundesverdienstkreuz) by the President of the Federal Republic of Germany. The European Business Angels Network, EBAN, has bestowed its first ever Lifetime Achievement Award on Peter Jungen, President Emeritus of EBAN, for his decisive contribution to creating a Business Angel Culture in Europe. In addition he received the first “Presidential Award” of EBAN in 2018.
