Low-carbon experts and companies from all over the country discussed the road to low-carbon development focusing on “carbon peaking, carbon neutrality, and regional economic transformation and upgrading”.

Zhao Zhongxiu, President of SDUFE, attended the forum and delivered a keynote report entitled “Striving toDevelop Low-Carbon Education andCollaborationto Achieve Double Carbon Goals”.

Zhao Zhongxiu pointed out in the report that the foundation of low-carbon development lies in education, especially higher education, which is of great significance to the realization of the dual-carbon goal. There are two ways for higher education to help achieve the dual-carbon goal. First, to break the boundaries of disciplines that is, to integrate the wisdom of various disciplines, and to promote the generation of new knowledge and ideas across disciplines.Second, to take serving society and benefiting the world as our own responsibility; take the organic linkage between theory and practice as realizing the goal, and promote the cultivation of talents for green and low-carbon development.

Zhao Zhongxiu also introduced the original intention of Shandong University of Finance and Economics (SDUFE) to establish China International Low Carbon College and the current achievements. He pointed out that the China International Low-Carbon Academy will carry out in-depth scientific research, talent training, and social work in the field of climate change. This is combined with the development characteristics and requirements of the new era, and actively exploring a green and low-carbon development model that meets China’s national conditions, while providing the support of talents and think tanks for the realization of the goal “30.60.”

China International Low Carbon College of Shandong University of Finance and Economics hosted the meeting “Smart Carbon Theory”- Urban Carbon Neutrality Experts in-depth Sharing Sessionon.Eight experts and scholars from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Tsinghua University, Beijing Jiaotong University, Renmin University of China and other units gave keynote speeches on carbon neutrality and carbon peaking strategies, technology paths, and case studies. At the end of the forum, a carbon salon was held. The salon was hosted by Professor Wang Jingmin. Audience interacted with experts during the gathering.

The forum released relevant research reports on the development of low-carbon economy; chartered the first TV product carbon label and the fourth batch of carbon label authorized evaluation agencies; launched the Shandong Carbon Neutral Digital Economy Industrial Park project, with an additional industry investment of more than 3 billion yuan as the goal. “We will create the first domestic resource supporting services for targeted full-element dual-carbon project, and cultivate a group of world-leading green and low-carbon technology enterprises,” said…

Experts at the meeting discussed the direction and trend of the country’s economic transformation under the dual-carbon target. It’s believed that the dual-carbon target is the only way for China’s economic development, and achieving low-carbon development is the consensus toward future world development. The new growth path characterized by low-carbon development has become an important direction for world economic development, and low-carbon advanced technologies, industrial systems and governance capabilities will become one of the core competitiveness of the country’s economic development.
