Lu Xiankun, Former Chinese Councillor to WTO, Visits SDUFE

On Oct.31, former Chinese Councillor to WTO and Executive director of Geneva Advisory Centre, Mr.Lu Xiankun visited SDUFE. President Zhao Zhongxiu and vice President Han Zuosheng met the guest.Deansin charge of the departments including International Office andSchool of International Economics and Tradewere also present at the meeting.

President Zhao firstly introduced the developments of our university and the innovative pilot class. He stressed that amid the current globalization,SDUFE is committed to fostering international talents with broad views and innovative mindset. He hoped that the two sides will jointly build internationalhigh-qualityprogram and take the opportunity to establish long term cooperation. Han Zuosheng briefly talked about the collaboration between SDUFE and international counterparts and said that the University is making every effort to provideteachers and students with more resources and conditions that will be instrumental for promoting their oversea study and exchange. Lu Xiankun, on his part, firstly praised the commitments made by SDUFE and put forward pertinent suggestions as well. He expressed that he will help to build up links between SDUFE and United Nations, WTO and other international organizations. Meanwhile, he would invite renowned scholars and experts here to give lectures and international courses in order to increaseSDUFEinternational education level. The two sides reached consensus on cooperation relating to exchange programs and selecting excellent students for studying abroad.

Before the meeting, Councillor Lu also gave a lecture to the students from first session of innovative pilot class on Shengjing campus. Themed withChinese Role in International Business Governing and Chinese Students’ Study at International Organizations, the lecture, based on the fast increase of China’s economic development and international influence, gave a detail description on topics including talents demand, course arrangements, job orientation and personal development, which was warmly welcomed by the students.
