About this Course 
Human resource development and management is an important core course of management major. It refers to using the modern scientific method, considering a certain rate of material resources, implenting reasonable human resource training, organizing and allocating, to make sure that the manpower and material resources keep the best proportion, often at the same time, to induce, control and coordinate persons’ thoughts, psychological treats and behavior properly, giving full play to people's subjective initiative, reaching a good match between people and jobs, which can be helpful for achieving organizational goals 
Human resource development and management is one of the key courses for master's and doctor's (human resource management) students majoring in enterprise management. It is carried out after completing basic courses such as strategic management and management research methods. According to the requirement of the inter-disciplinary talent training goal, through lectures, case discussions, simulation experiment, graduation practice and self-learning, the course tries to enable students to master human resources development and management basic theories and methods, to enable them to use relevant basic theories and methods to evaluate and design organiazational strategy, to do human resource planning, to make job descriptions, to accomplish staff recruiting and hiring activity, to design and applicate performance evaluation and incentive system, to plan employee’ training and their career development, and to understand the latest trends in human resources development and management at home and abroad.In the process of teaching, attention should be paid to the cultivation of students' ability to study, think, analyze and work independently. After the completion of this course, students are required to be able to apply the expertise and methods of human resource development and management to the practical work of human resource management and lay a foundation for further improvement.

Course Goals 
After completing this course, students should have developed a range of skills enabling them to understand basic concepts of human resource development and management, and use those concepts to analyze specific questions.
By the end of this course, students should be able to:
·         Master human resources development and management’s basic theories and methods 
·         Use relevant basic theories and methods to evaluate and design organiazational strategy.
·         Accomplish some complex assighments like staff recruiting and hiring activities.
·         Develop the skills of planning employee’ training and their career developments.
·         Understand the latest trends in human resources development and management at home and abroad.

Topical material and additional reading for class discussion may be assigned during the semester. 
Deliverables and Grading 
Method of evaluation and grading: 
1The topics of presentation will be assigned to groups of students ahead of specific items of the module, and the results of the presetations will count for 10% of the final course grade.
2There will be one mid-term exam which count as 20% of the grade.
3There will also be a 100-mins final exam, which will be cumulative and cover all of the course materials. This will count as the remaining 70% of the grade.
