About this Course 
Today, with the rapid development of the Internet, e-commerce has become a new bright spot in economic development, especially in rural areas, where e-commerce is booming. Under the influence of a series of national policies to support agriculture and benefit farmers, the enthusiasm of rural e-commerce is constantly emerging. The rural areas of China are gradually getting rid of the embarrassment of information occlusion and ushering in a new era of e-commerce.
Starting from the spirit of the new document, this course combines the author's many years of research and in-depth thinking in the field of agriculture and e-commerce, and comprehensively and detailed introduction of rural e-commerce, agricultural products, e-commerce, agricultural e-commerce, Taobao Village, County e-commerce, e-commerce poverty alleviation, home-from-house e-commerce (agricultural e-commerce), etc., have detailed descriptions and in-depth analysis of various forms, typical models and outstanding problems of rural e-commerce in China, and provided effective and feasible Suggested countermeasures and implementation plans.

Course Goals 
After completing this course, students should have developed a range of skills enabling them to understand rural e-commerce and find the right business opportunity of rural e-commerce.
By the end of this course, students should be able to:
·         Familiar with the basic concepts of rural e-commerce.
·         Master business model, SWOT model, steps and rules of entrepreneurship, the application of IT in rural e-commerce.
·         Understand important economic theories and basic research methods of rural e-commerce.
·         Develop the skills of applying the rural e-commerce to analyze the real business issues.
·         Use business tools to analyze business models and chances.

Topical material and additional reading for class discussion may be assigned during the semester. 
Deliverables and Grading 
Method of evaluation and grading: 
1There will be six mandatory problem sets which will be individually graded. At the end of the term students will have the best eight homework grades cumulated up and this will count for 20% of the final course grade.
2There will be one midterm exam which count as 20% of the grade.
3There will also be a two hour final, which will be cumulative and cover all of the course materials. This will count as the remaining 60% of the grade.
